HISTORY OF THE JOLIE BRISE : FRENCH CUTTER
Discover the Jolie Brise, a scale wooden replica of this famous French cutter. After a short career as a pilot boat, she was used as a fishing boat as steam engines replaced sail propulsion.
Le Jolie Brise could sail at speeds of 9-10 knots. She became a legendary racing cutter, winning the first Fastnet race in 1925, and again in 1930, among many other races.
She became famous when she rescued the crew of the Adriana in the 1932 Bermuda Ocean Race, which caught fire and was lost during the race, before being withdrawn from service.
