The HM Brig Badger was a small, agile Royal Navy warship during the American War of Independence. Her exact origins are not fully clear; she was likely a captured prize originally named Pitt. The Badger holds special significance as the first official command of a young Horatio Nelson, who would later become one of Britain's most famous admirals. Armed with twelve 4-pounder cannons, several swivel guns, and a crew of around 90 men, the brig was deployed for reconnaissance missions, convoy escorts, and dispatch carrying.
