? About Fukuisaurus ? "Fukuisaurus" was a herbivorous dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, approximately 120 million years ago. Its fossils were excavated in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture—a location renowned for dinosaur excavations and research—where Japan's first full-body skeleton reconstruction was achieved. In 2003, it was officially given the scientific name Fukuisaurus tetoriensis as a new species. Fukuisaurus means "lizard of Fukui," while tetoriensis derives from the Tetori Group (Kitadani Formation) geological layer where the fossils were found. Adults reached a total length of approximately 5.2 meters. While primarily bipedal, it is believed to have occasionally used its forelimbs for quadrupeds support. It is thought to have grasped vegetation with the tip of its beak-like mouth and ground it down using its well-developed teeth.
